I am a teacher because I want to change the world. While I realize what I want to accomplish is limited, I know teaching is where I will have the greatest opportunity of impact. The biggest reason I have decided to pursue this career is because I feel the strongest desire to positively influence and educate children. I feel that one of the major satisfactions of becoming a teacher is the opportunity to enrich a child's life. What a great way to spend a day at work. I recognize the passion, commitment, patience, and understanding this profession needs and I am very exited and ready to provide. The ability to learn is one of the most amazing developments of our kind, my experiences as a tutor, volunteer, camp counselor and sister to 5 siblings have reinforced my inspiration to become a teacher. I know that teaching is where I belong and I am ready for any challenge that it brings.
Each chapter of this portfolio will outline my ideal K-5 classroom. I learned throughout my course Managing the Learning Environment how open minded and ready for anything you have to be as a teacher. How crazy classrooms can become and how to handle stressful situations positively. I will compare the two different theories humanist and behavioral both being I think important ways to run a classroom. I will show my specific Code of Ethics as a teacher and the specific commitments I tend to keep to myself and my students. My personal management philosophy and some essential decisions. Having a management philosophy is important because classroom management is the key component in any educational setting. If students are in a safe environment, then learning can take place. This doesn’t mean punishing behavior problems but instead a combination of setting the tone in a class, preventing behavior problems with interesting and engaging curriculums and effectively including all students in the classroom so that their needs are met. I have also provided in this portfolio my ideal classroom layout. This portfolio provides a small outlook on what I would like my future classroom and community as a teacher to be like. I am so exited for the future and the amazing kids I am yet to meet and discover.
